Apples & Indian......
Just been travelling to and from work Mon to Fri, with a couple of excursions chucked in to enlighten the routine.
Hearing the alarm at 6.15 each work day isn't fun but knowing the winter mooring fee costs have been surpassed in wages already makes it easier. Also it fills in the day....
Wednesday and Friday night Leonies work had dining out for the staff, saved me cooking the dinner.
Wednesday I stayed in town and went to a poker tourney, 5th place, ate Lamb shanks at the pub and Leonie picked me up after her Indian dining experience.
Friday Leonie and work mates made their way into Oxford by cab. I went back to boat, had dinner then attended my local poker tourney then drove to Oxford to collect her upon the phone call.
Someones gotta do the Hard Yards...
Had a couple of icy mornings and wet days but not too bad really.
After a frost it's usually a nice day....
With clear skies... 15 minutes to sundown, 4.15pm and the sun bounces off the vapour trails.....
NB FireflyNZ at the winter mooring....
On the shore power.... at Aynho..... the log fire warming the inner......
Looking up the canal....
Toward Banbury... Some NB's choosing to moor up opposite.... free but no luxury of power.....
And looking down......
Toward Oxford.... Walker Services Chandlery with verandah overhanging canal.....
And close by is......
About 70 paces but who's counting...... The Western Arms Pub... Reputed to serve the best meals on the cut....
This is the.....
Front entrance to the pub.....
A fellow employee, Indian origin, at Leonies work was leaving and someone said he had to "Shout" morning tea on his last day.
His mother did the cooking and after everyone entitled had had a "pig out"........
There was a large quantity of tucker left..... Samosa.... tasty..... potato, onion, chick peas, coriander
So Leonie grabbed a "Doggy Bag" of the grub....
And a few more.... thought she was cooking for the whole Uttar Pradesh area......
And this......
Pakora spread........
On Friday evening the meal was at...
Balliol College in central Oxford..... Sally, Alison, Leonie.....
Inside the building has some......
Spectacular roof timbers and trusses.....
The meal was.... Ham hock Terrine entrée.....
Then some Turkey, veg and pumpkin puree with a touch of cranbury.....
Followed by......
The OL' cheese board........
Saturday was a looked forward to sleep in, about 10.45am for me, after 12 for Leonie. Not sleep but catch'n up on a few programs on the Project Free TV on the note book.
Nice day today. Done some chores then watched the All Blacks play Ireland...
They did the traditional.......
"Haka" to frighten the opposition.... Didn't work cos Ireland stacked up three tries to lead 19 nil......
But the AB's fought to the end....
Scoring here... Ben Franks and then 2 minutes after the clock showed full time......Ryan Crotty.. 24 - 22.. Undefeated for the season... Who needs Sonny Freak'n WHO..???
Done a trip to the supermarket today but had to stop and....Do the normal......
Climb a bloody Apple tree... No you couldn't have reached them either Stu G.......
Anyway the result was.....
Peeled and diced apple....
Then.....
Stewed apple ready for freezing and a few Apple Crumbles.......
Then I decided I may as well...
Watch Leonie bake a Banana cake as well.... I'm Chief "Sarmpluurrr".....
Tomorrow 6.15 rrriiiinnngggg, yyyaaawwwnnnnnn......
